PRESBYTERY COUNCIL
The Presbytery Council shall provide leadership to the presbytery in developing mission priorities; establish, plan and propose the docket of the meetings of the presbytery; serve as the Board of Directors regarding all financial and property matters; and oversee the work of the presbytery staff through the Personnel Committee.

Property
The Heartland Property committee is charged with overseeing Heartland Presbytery property. We make decisions to receive, encumber, manage and transfer property (including church buildings) for and at the direction of Council.
BUSINESS AFFAIRS
The Business Affairs committee is one of three standing committees of Presbytery Council. The committee guides and manages the financial health of the presbytery giving special attention to the budget and month-to-month income and expenses.

PERSONNEL
The Personnel Committee of Heartland Presbytery's primary responsibility is to oversee the presbytery staff, to make recommendations to Council regarding staffing needs for the present and envisioning what our needs will be in the future. We provide constructive feedback and support to our employees so that Heartland Presbytery is able to fulfill its mission and calling.

COMMISSION ON MINISTRy (COM)
The Commission on Ministry maintains relationship between presbytery and congregations, conducting regular visits and providing support and resources. Assists congregations seeking pastoral leadership from the departure of one leader to the calling of another.

COMMISSION ON PREPARATION FOR MINISTRy(CPM)
The Commission on Preparation for Ministry works with people discerning a call to ordained ministry. We covenant to journey together through several years, with support and challenge, from initial discernment to a more clear sense of call. For many, but not all, this process ends with ordination as a Minister of Word and Sacrament.

Committee on General Assembly Business
This committee, consisting of the most recent commissioners and advisory delegates to represent the presbytery at a General Assembly, makes recommendations on all matters related to overtures being considered for presentation to the upcoming assembly, and interprets for the presbytery before it votes any recommended constitutional changes.

The Committee on Representation advocates for diversity in leadership in the presbytery.

CONGREGATIONAL MINISTRIES Committee (CMC)
Congregational Ministries Division works closely with the churches of Heartland Presbytery to provide the necessary resources for their educational needs, as well as planning and designing training for educational leadership, church officer training and promoting networking among congregations with particular needs. Oversees the Heartland Presbytery Youth Council, promoting youth ministry, coordinate Presbytery-wide events and provide resources to local congregations to improve their ministries with youth.

MISSION AND SOCIAL JUSTICE Committee (MSJ)
Mission and Social Justice provides leadership and education for congregations to address social justice concerns. We serve as liaison in recommending and carrying out resolutions and actions concerning social justice issues enacted by the presbytery.

NEW WORSHIPING COMMUNITIES Commission (NWCC)
The New Worshiping Communities Commission supports active and prospective New Worshiping Communities within Heartland Presbytery. These new communities are innovative and creative expressions of the church, responding to our diverse and changing culture. As new leaders and communities emerge, the NWCC prayerfully supports their growth and wellbeing. PERMANENT JUDICIAL COMMISSION
Heartland Presbytery’s Permanent Judicial Commission (PJC) guides church discipline by administering judicial process involving remedial cases and disciplinary cases. Get more details in this committee description.

Presbytery Planning Group
This group consists of the past, current and future presbytery moderators; three at-large members; and presbytery staff. It is responsible for planning worship and fellowship at all presbytery meetings, with attention to creativity, diversity and inclusivity. It consults with the stated clerk on the preparation of a docket of business and regularly reviews and evaluates the content and quality of presbytery meetings.
SAFE BOUNDARIES RESPONSE PANEL
The Safe Boundaries Response Panel is charged with providing pastoral support for anyone making an allegation of sexual misconduct, as well as for the accused, the alleged victims and any others affected by the allegation. This is independent of any judicial process associated with the allegation.
