As the body of Christ, we covenant with God and with each other to affirm our unity in Jesus Christ and share Christ’s ministry with others as the Holy Spirit leads us.

The First Presbyterian Church of Albany, Missouri, was first established as the Church of Athens
on May 30th, 1857. Over 135 years later the church is still proclaiming the gospel,
still serving its community and is still worshiping under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

First Presbyterian has a long and illustrious history in serving Gentry County. This congregation is the result of a merger between Mount Zion and the Albany Presbyterian Churches.
Each year there is a Heritage Sunday at which time worship service and basket dinner are
held at the Mount Zion Church, which is located off  Highway A.
The Mount Zion property is owned and maintained by an association
that caringly looks after this historic property.

We are a part of the Ministerial Alliance and financially contribute to its program of aid to those in need. An offering of non-perishable food items is gathered on the 2nd Sunday of
each month for the Lord's Warehouse.

To share the worship experience we gather to worship at Colonial Manor
four times a year on Sunday afternoon.

We participate with area local churches at the
Albany's Thanksgiving, Easter Sunrise and Holy Week Men and Youth Breakfasts.

The First Presbyterian Church ministers to the many needs of its members and the community
by providing Sunday School for all ages, local mission programs, community leadership and
participation in the global mission programs of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
